This purpose built, high speed, nimble Audi Q5 has been equipped with the Ultra Arm camera crane on top with several options for professional remote heads. We offer the Movi XL, Pro and Arri SRH3 stabilized remote heads to be exact.
Plus we can host client or rental heads such as the Ronin series, Shotover G1 or similar head.

Agility
We chose the Audi Q5 for its great attributes. Good size for clearance of the arm and head, it’s quickness, ability to handle and stop, as well as it’s luxury appointments.
It easily enables us to follow, chase, move around a vehicle or subject creating dynamic shots.
While Mantis is primarily used for car to car tracking, our background is with Jibs. Our thought process is always treating the car like a rolling or mobile Jib obtaining highly creative shots with flexibility and safety in mind.

The Car
Mantis has been extensively customized.
We started with a supercharged 3.0l Audi Q5 with it’s legendary Audi Quattro All Wheel Drive sytem. We’ve boosted the performance with a stage 1 tune to 400 HP and it stops with Brembo Brakes.
Its quick, agile and comfortable.
Matt black finish to cut down on reflections and gravel guards to protect the Hero Vehicles. We’ve designed a custom roof support system for the Ultra Arm and speedrail mounts for the Black Arm.
Also Rally lights on top for a tribute to Audi’s Rally Racing history.
Controls
Ultra Arm Controller
Precision
The MotoCrane Controller features dual-stick operation for independent control of the Swing and Lift axes. It’s centered around a 7” touchscreen display for real-time position feedback, speed, limits, and system diagnostics
Interior
Mantis features an interior designed for obtaining moving footage. Each seat has several prewired and vehicle powered monitors. Included among them is an Atomos Shogun to record & playback onboard.
Everything inside the vehicle is powered through the car and no batteries are needed inside.
Safety
Safety is very important to us and we’ve installed a 360 degree camera & monitor system to aid each production position in knowing where the crane is at all times.
Comms
A full voice activated Headset Communication system is at each position as well as PTT buttons for the Driver and Director to the Hero Vehicle & Production is included.
We carry our own radios but have cables for client Motorola radios too.

Ultra Arm
ULTRA features a 12’ arm, capable of positioning 65lbs payloads at any vantage point around the vehicle.
Internal BNC cabling allows for unlimited swing/pan rotation

It handles off-road, moisture, and extreme temperatures with ease. IP66 rated and constructed of 7075 and 6061-T6 aluminum for high strength to weight ratio
Dampening
The arm design features adjustable passive 3-axis nose dampening to isolate the head and camera package for buttery-smooth, rock-solid image stabilization.
Travel
ULTRA is the lightest, most portable remote arm system. Weighing just 190lbs unloaded, it is the only 12’ arm capable of flying as checked baggage.
Mounting
It can to mount to literally any vehicle you can think of, trucks, cars, utv’s, boats, you name it, we can mount it. We offer it on our Camera Car -Mantis, our utv – Scorpius or we can travel anywhere in the world with it and mount it on a suitable vehicle.
Versatile
Mantis can host either our Ultra Arm camera crane or our Black Arm /Gimbal combo.

Crew has decades of experience in moving cameras creatively and our pool of drivers ranch from Precision Drivers, to Stunt Show owners to Professional race car drivers.
Mantis ONLY hires out with our trained Drivers and Arm Operators.
We also supply highly experienced Remote Head Operators but can be subbed for Qualified DP’s or Operators.

Mantis?
Where did the name Mantis come from? I felt that the Camera Car with the Ultra Arm and Black Arm and gimbals on it resembled the shape of the arms of a Preying Mantis. Hence the name! –
